Unique Irish, sustainable, Bog Oak, Lime Tree and Ivy Driftwood 4.7 ft tall Lamp. I, Donnacha set up Metal and Mallet in 2022, but have been an artist creating over 15 years.

I hand carve, one of a kind, bespoke pieces of Art \ furniture & lighting. I am inspired by nature, flora, fauna and our environment plus 1960's architecture.

I incorporate this passion into my sculpted and designed pieces of furniture and lighting. I essentially handmake one off pieces of functional Art, this is my passion.

Each individual piece not only has it's own story to tell and history it also is an exceptional piece of functional Art to admire.

I cut up fallen trees in Tipperary, season the wood traditionally over 3.5 years. I incorporate Driftwood from Lough Derg and salvaged metal into some of my pieces.
I prefer only to use basic hand tools as I believe this maintains the integrity of the materials plus gives me more control over each process from the design to the creation of each unique piece.

I named this exquisite free standing lamp "The Tree of Light"

The theme of the lamp in Inversion. It draws the attention to the base consisting of a large rugged piece of Irish, Bog Yew wood which was anchored in the ground for thousands of years.
Lough Derg Driftwood, painted matt black acting as 'Ivy' encircling the large inverted solid Lime tree, drawing one's eye upwards towards the large glow from the LED light, giving hope. This Calex\Holland new E27XXL Organic Evo Calex bulb has a lifespan of 15.000 hours.

This lamp represents Life's journey...Eternal.
