Featured prominently in the foreground of the obverse of this round is the American cowboy riding a bucking bronco with the setting sun lighting up the background.  This cowboy pays homage to both the current (Scottsdale, Arizona) and future (Wyoming) manufacturing locations of the Scottsdale Mint.

To the lower right of the cowboy sits a Buffalo privy mark as an added security feature.
