Original circa 1890's-1910 or so cast iron figure of a tramp for a Gong Bell Toy Co. toy. This was from either a one tramp or an acrobats bell toy as two varieties were produced & both used the identical figure on the "Tramp" & two identical figures on the "Acrobats". figure(s). This figure is from a bell ringing toy made by the Gong Bell Toy Company in New England. The "Tramp Bell Ringer" with single figure is listed as item No. 47 in the 1902-1903 Gong Bell Toy catalog. The "Acrobats" bell ringer with two figures is listed as item No. 54 in the same catalog.

This figure would have balanced on one foot & rocked from side to side suspended on a wheeled platform. The thin metal wire that would run in to the tramp's left foot is where this figure snapped off from the base.

The figure measures 3 7/8 inches tall by 2 1/2 inches wide. The bell is of a type that one of the acrobats would hold on the acrobats bell toy & did not come with this tramp which took a larger bell. The original chain is present that would have been from the tramp bell toy with this single figure. The original paint on the figure shows some wear. But, lots of the original paint is present & the paint is in excellent, pleasing, & glossy condition.

There are no chips, no cracks, & no repairs to this iron tramp. Please examine the photos closely & purchase based on your own judgement as to condition & value. This item is inventory #5672.
