• Biography of the artist he was born in Groningen, Holland in 1912, he went to the Hague as a child. After the secondary school there, he studied at the Academy for Arts.
• He worked three years as a lithographic artist but moved to Blerick in the south of Holland where he married a daughter of a big farmer's family. His paintings of old towns and farmers' houses, mostly done in delicate lights and of an easy impressionistic style, are well known.
• He exhibited in Antwerpen, the Hague and Amsterdam.  He has taught many young artists and is prominent member of the Brugs School of Artists.
• Circa mid 20th century.
