For your consideration is a vintage, 1970’s, Spiro T Agnew A Great American t-shirt.  This is a white, short-sleeved t-shirt, with gray fabric at the crew neckline and sleeve ends.  The focal point of the t-shirt is a large patriotic crest or shield with the American stars and stripes and the facial image or portrait of Spiro T Agnew and the words, “A GREAT AMERICAN With Permission of Vice President Spiro T. Agnew”.  This graphic image measures 10 ¾ x 13 ¼ inches (27.305 x 33.655 centimeters), and it is on the upper center chest of the t-shirt. This t-shirt is made from a lightweight cotton fabric and would be a size small or medium.  This t-shirt measures 19 inches (48.26 centimeters) in width from armpit to armpit on one side and 24 ¾ inches (62.865 centimeters) in length from top of t-shirt to bottom hemline.  Please check a t-shirt with my measurements to assure you that it will fit.  This is a vintage t-shirt from the 1970’s, so the size may vary by today’s standards.  The t-shirt is in very good condition considering the age and has no holes or rips.  There are three dark marks on the back of the right sleeve, so please observe all photos.

FYI, “at the 1968 Republican National Convention, Richard Nixon asked Agnew to place his name in nomination, and named him as running mate.   In the years of his vice presidency, Agnew moved to the right, appealing to conservatives who were suspicious of moderate stances taken by Nixon. In the presidential election of 1972, Nixon and Agnew were re-elected.  In 1973, Agnew was investigated by the United States Attorney for the District of Maryland on suspicion of criminal conspiracy, bribery, extortion, and tax fraud. Agnew took kickbacks from contractors during his time as Baltimore County Executive and Governor of Maryland. The payments had continued into his time as Vice President.  After months of maintaining his innocence, Agnew pleaded no contest to a single felony charge of tax evasion and resigned from office. Thus, this t-shirt is a parody or a spoof put out by the Democrats to portray Spiro T. Agnew rather unfavorably.
