I am offering these two Antique engraved maps showing the route of the first French missionaries to Ayutthaya Siam, with the accompanying close up map of the land route through India from Surate to Mazulpatan.

Title: Carte du Voyage de Mr. l'Evesque de Beryte, Vicaire Apostolique au Royaume de la Cochin-chine &c. les annees 1660, 1661, 1662, & c. Printed in Paris, circa 1666.

This map was also published in The first French accounts of Siam, Father Jaques de Bourges (c.1630 - 1714) was a member of the first Catholic mission to Siam, arriving with his two fellow missionaries Monseigneur Lambert de La Motte and the apostolic missionaries François Deydier embarked for Alexandrette in Marseille in November 1660. That's where they began the journey which would take them through Aleppo, Baghdad, Basrah and Isphahan to Bandar Abbas.

They would cross the Indian subcontinent up to Masulipatam on the Coromandel Coast, seen on the rare second map titled, Route de Surate a Mazulpatan par Orengabat et Golconde.

After an extremely tiring journey of 21 months they arrived in Ayuthia, the capital of the Kingdom of Siam, in August 1662. This memorable journey is well-known to us thanks to the Relation du voyage de Monseigneur l'évêque de Beryte Vicaire apostolique du royaume de la Cochinchine, Par la Turquie, la Perse, les Indes, &c. jusqu'au Royaume de Siam & autres lieux, par M. de Bourges
