Antique Victorian 18th Century Bed Warmer Hand Hammered Copper Dite Spider.

18th Century Dite "spider""covered bed warmer. Brass cage lid has a spider like design with its eight legs crimped and soldered. This type of cover prevented direct contact with embers and sheet of the bed. This unique top opens and closes with a black wrought iron closure clasp.

The heater / warmer itself is made from hammered copper with an imprinted design of swirls and accordion motifs.
