This is a RARE item worthy of more research and I am sure some of you out there will possibly know what club this FOOTBALLER running with a football wearing a black and white horizontal striped shirt and white shorts plays for !?

This is an antique c1900 double sided silver bloodstone pocket watch chain fob with the finest of intricate hand painted enamel front behind glass and a plain polished bloodstone back.

The hand painted enamel depicts a footballer in a black and white football kit uniform inside a gilt border that has also been hand painted with a pink rose, thistle, and 3 leaf clover - shamrock pattern. Very fine hand painting.

Behind the footballer is vegetation and greenery and even sky colouration too. The attention to detail on the complete item is really fabulous. I know I am banging on about it but when it is in your hand you will see what I mean

I'm not sure which team this is meant to be representing or of course it could just be artist by the maker of a " footballer " and sold as a pocket watch chain fob at football matches.

What I do know is that is has NEVER been on a pocket watch chain in its life by the look of it.

The bloodstone side is in beautiful condition.

Both sides are mounted into a nice typical Victorian / Edwardian silver frame that has the C shaped and ball dots too right around the edge with a suspension loop at the top. It is stamped with hallmarks in the centre and by them soldering on the fancy surround it has obliterated the hallmarks. This is not unusual for this type of watch chain fob.

No maker's marks or artist's signatures from what I can see.

Please see close-up photographs provided for more details and visual confirmation of condition for yourself.
Normal signs of age and use wear including some light surface scuffs etc.

It measures approx. 29mm in diameter in total including the frame x 9.2mm deep. It is 35.7mm long including the suspension loop. It weighs approx. 10.2 grams.

If you have got to here and not got bored check out my other auction listings today to see another one of these very similar, again all hand painted as the footballer on the other is wearing a BLUE & WHITE kit, the border frame flowers are different and the back is a Carnelian. It too has never been used. I have listed the other in a different category. Two very rare pocket watch chain fobs.

Rare as Hens Teeth !

Postage policies:

I use the eBay Global Shipping Programme for most of my items as this allows me to send items internationally that I would normally only be able to offer to UK buyers. Items sent under this system are fully insured the shipping price also includes any customs duties.

I do not have any control over the shipping price as eBay themselves set these prices.

Combined postage for multiple items:

"Usually when items are shipped through our Global Shipping Program it is not possible to combine separate orders as each transaction is given a unique reference code which is needed by our shipping centre to process orders.

However, it may be possible to get an automatic shipping discount with the Global Shipping Programme by adding all your items to the eBay shopping basket and then purchasing. The eBay shopping cart automatically estimates any discounts for you, combining items where possible.
However only these item must be in the cart at this time and will have to be added in and purchased within a certain timeframe. If you have any other items in your basket the system will be unable to combine the order."

If this automated system does not apply the postage discount for you, please send me an eBay message and I will do my best to try and combine the shipping costs for you.

To see ALL my other 7000+ items for sale, please click on VISIT SHOP or see other items. Strangely, both options seem to only give a limited view of what I have to offer, so to see everything I have available, click on Shop by Category which will give you a much better view.

Scale is usually an English 1 penny coin which is 20mm in diameter which is just short of 7/8ths of an inch in diameter, or a universal sized Coke can (330ml).

If you see A/F = a/f in the title or description it means "as found" condition which may have scuffs, scratches and damage. In relation to all my listings it does not mean " about fine ". I have used A/F  for " as found " for 45 years.
