This listing is for a clean well maintained pair of pre owned tied end Herman Oak harness leather split reins. These reins measure 5/8 inch wide, 5/16 inch thick, and almost 8 feet long (93 inches) with tied loop ends and extra thick heavy tails. The reins have been recently conditioned, are supple, and drape well. The flash on the photos make them appear lighter and less uniform in color than they are. The reins are a nice dark harness leather color.
These quality professional horse reins are for show or everyday use by the Professional Horseman. These are heavy hand picked uniform split reins with hand beveled edges and rubbed with extra oil for a soft supple feel, providing the best ready to use feel! The 5/8 inch thickness will ensure that perfect show ring drape.
These reins are made from heavy premium Hermann Oak Harness leather and rubbed down extra for a smooth, rich, soft supple "broke in" feel. They have the uniform balance through out the complete length.
Because reins are used as the line of communication that passes your signals to your horse, you should be very particular about choosing those reins. They need to feel good in your hands and good to your horse. They must have life to them so when communicating thru them your horse has a clear understanding of what you are asking them to do.
There is no substitution for quality when choosing the correct set of reins for you and your horse. They are exposed to the elements on a continual basis, so poor quality reins will suffer by losing their life over time and diminish the feel between you and your horse.
This is a very popular size, great for training or riding a finished horse in or out of the show pen. Each rein is perfectly oiled and in great condition! Each rein weighs over 11 ounces (almost 3/4 pound each!), these are nice show quality reins and are not cheap, flimsy, imported tack.
