This book was first published in 1926. This is the 1963 updated version. The Sailing Ship is one of the best compact accounts of the development of the sailing-ship that we have today. The authors trace the two main streams of European ship development-the Southern or Mediterranean and the Northern-until their junction in the 15th century produced the standard European full-rigged ship.
