You are bidding on 12 RED BAMBOO JAPANESE MAPLE SEEDS - Acer palmatum 'Beni otake'.

Acer palmatum ‘Beni otake’ translates to red bamboo, which aptly describes this maple from the linearilobum group with leaves that are very thin and long and mimic that of bamboo.

The deeply lobed, fine textured leaves emerge a medium red in spring holding its color well into summer before first bronzing and then turning green. The interesting thing is, as you watch this tree from spring until summer the colors seem to be slightly different, displaying beautiful reds, purples and pinks from week to week, day to day or even hour to hour. In late summer new red growth pushes out of the top of the tree that is now green, giving it a very interesting appearance. Fall color is a really nice crimson. 

 

Red stems are an extra added bonus during the winter months.

Its upright form to 12 to 16 feet tall and equally as wide in as many years make this exotic looking beauty a perfect fit and eye-catching specimen for smaller garden spaces

Edible parts of Japanese Maple: The sap contains a certain amount of sugar and can either be used as a drink, or can be concentrated into a syrup by boiling off the water. The syrup is used as a sweetener on many foods.  

Other uses of Japanese Maple: 

The leaves are packed around apples, rootcrops etc to help preserve them.
