Located in the heart of Connemara our heather honey is harvested from the endangered pure Native Irish Honeybees who collect the nectar and pollen our the heather (calluna vulgaris) that coats the Connemara countryside in the late summer / early autumn,
Our raw heather honey comes straight from the honeycomb - we simply cold filter the honey to remove any small bits of debris and beeswax. We do not pasteurise the honey as this exposes the honey to high temperatures which destroys most of the honey’s natural properties such as:
- bee pollen, which has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial as well as anti-fungal properties
- bee propolis which is a proven anti-septic
- vitamins and minerals
- enzymes
- amino acids
- antioxidants
