The first issue of Young Mates Music, the parent publication of Player, was published in 1968, the same year that the hard rock band Led Zeppelin was formed in England.
When it was first published, it was in the form of a tabloid news paper, not in the style of today. At that time, it was sold only at music stores.
Originally published as a magazine dedicated to providing information on musical instruments directly to users, "Young Mates Music" eventually took the form of a magazine, and the name was changed to "Y.M.M. Player" to reflect the times.
The magazine will cease publication with the June 30, 2023 summer issue.
It is a magazine for instrumentalists, focusing on guitars, and each issue contains a feature on an artist, a band score (one song), a poster of the player, new products of the time (guitars, effectors, etc.), explanations of riffs, and much more information about guitars!
I also enjoy looking at flyers from Japanese music stores!
