This is a token for the Presidential Campaign of 1856.

Senator John Charles Fremont was the Republican candidate and this token represented him.

His portrait and date of birth is on the front.

The American eagle and the slogan; ' Our Country' is on the reverse.

J.C. Fremont eventually lost to the Democrat  James Buchanan.

The token ( 22mm diameter) is in a good collectable condition.

There is wear , but most details are clear and legible.

The token grade is a Fine (F)

A good and very rare piece of American  political history.
