This is a beautiful UDB colored post card of WHITE FISH MONTANA landscape.

The message written on the front references Whitefish Mt., which is a city located at the altitude of 3028 ft above sea level on the western side of the Continental Divide.  It came into existence in 1904 when the "Great Northern Railway" built through what is now Whitefish.  Early residents of the town worked for the railroad and nearby logging industries.  By the late 1940s, with the successful construction of a ski resort on Big Mountain (a collaboration among local businessmen) the tourism sector was becoming increasingly important.  The community was named for its location near Whitefish Lake.

The card was published by the “American News Co", N.Y., N.Y who from 1864-1957 was a major distributor of books, magazines, newspapers, comic books and postcards through their national network of more than 300 affiliated news agencies.

They used many different printing techniques but “Poly-Chrome” a photo-chromolithography with heavy retouching was the firm’s first color printing technique.  Its colors are bright and so flat that they almost resemble screen-prints. The poly-chrome process was almost exclusively used before 1907.Other European publishers also used the same process but without the Poly-Chrome name.

The card is in very good condition with some wear on the corners.  The image is immaculate with the bright and clean colors that Poly-Chromes are known for.  Unfortunately, the PM is blurred but I can make out Harve & Spok(ane), which is probably an RPO.

In any event, if this is your card, it will be mailed promptly upon receipt of payment.  Free World Wide Shipping.....
