Tranquil ambiance of autumn


When casually parting the fern, a grasshopper was found on a leaf, beautifully depicted in Chinkin (Gold-inlaid lacquer ware using powdered real gold in etched), capturing the serene autumn ambiance.

This is by *Iwaji Kadono (角野 岩次 1925- 2013).

He was a renowned Wajima lacquer artist with exceptional expertise in Chinkin-Damascening.

 Here is a summary of his career as a Chinkin artist:

*Awarded prizes 13 times at the Nitten Exhibition (Japan Fine Arts Exhibition).
*Served on the panel of the Nitten Exhibition.

*Exhibited his work at the Berliner Festspiele in 1965.

*His work was purchased by the Japan Agency for Cultural Affairs in 1977.
*Received the Medal with Dark Blue Ribbon twice.

*Honored with the Japanese Prime Minister's Award in 1982 and 1985.

The natsume includes a resume as of April 1978. 
It appears to be a natsume crafted at least 45 years ago or even more. 

Despite its age, it is in a remarkably unused and well-preserved condition.

This piece of measures: 3.346 inched (8.5 cm) in diameter.  2.362 inched (6 cm) in height.
