Genuine 1930s Vintage – RARE and Hard to Find

These are genuine 1930s vintage. They have the classic 1930s round top edge, faintly stippled surface, well-formed threads, and much heavier, thicker brass construction. They are in perfect condition.

These are hard to find.

Once they are gone, it will be hard to finding high quality 1930s caps like these.

These are well-made heavyweight solid brass, and not the thinner gauge of later versions. They are noticeably heavier in your hand than thinner modern ones. My guess if that in the 1940s, Aladdin cooperated with the war effort and economized on brass, which is mostly copper. Aladdin also made brass-plated steel caps during the war years.

Authenticity Tests

Heavy Weight. To verify their authenticity, I weighed them and compared to later Aladdin vintage and new caps. These weigh 4.8 to 5.0 gams. Samples of later Aladdin vintage caps weighed 2.8g or so. The new Aladdin N120 series weighs a mere 2.0g.

Perfectly Round Top Edge. Another test is that they have the classic perfectly round top edge. Later vintage ones have a flattish top edge and sometimes a top edge that is angled into the center.

Stippled Surface. The surface of genuine vintage often has a faint “stippled” texture that you can see when you turn the top to reflect light just right. More recent ones are smoother. Current ones have a mirror finish. Due to the overbright lightbox lighting, you can only barely see this effect in the photographs.

Provenance

I acquired them from an old collector who had them for many, many years. I polished the exterior to a gleaming finish by removing the tarnish of age.
