Measures 5.5 inches tall including the decorative piece at the top; 6 inches round, and 7.5 inches in length including the handles.
There are 2 small wooden pieces and 4 small butter serving dishes that come with the butter dish, they fit inside the butter dish and  fit inside the bottom plate to hold butter or condiments. The piece fits firmly on the counter or table top, and is not off balance or uneven.  The included butter knife is marked William Roger & Son.  The butter knife fits snugly in the fixed holder on the side of the dish.
There is some wearing of the plating on the bottom of the dish and on the inside bottom, these areas of wear are not noticeable.  The inside area in covered up by the plate that rest under the lid.
What does quadruple silver plate mean? Quadruple silver plate items are not plated four times, they simply were plated with four times as much pure silver, known in the industry as . 925, as any other hollow ware item. Quadruple silver plate hollow ware was some of the highest quality made during the later part of the 19th century.
