SHORT WAVE and LONG WAVE UV
Interesting specimen of a fluorescent Franklin rock with wonderful green fluorescence from the mineral Willemite, red from Calcite and a tan patch from (?) something I am not sure of. Images # 1, 4, 7 and 10 were shot under short wave UV light and # 2, 5, 8 and 11 under long wave UV light.
Using a 10x loupe several minerals are easily seen including some small grains of transparent green Garnet? also noted is a red mineral which could be Bustamite? There are patches of a tan/yellow clay like mineral substance on one side and a greyish colored coating on the other. This piece came with very little info and I am no expert on rocks from this locale.
From the Franklin Mining District, Franklin, New Jersey.
449 grams.
3-3/4" length.
NOTE!
I used a 6 watt short wave lamp for the SW images, and a Convoy S2 long wave UV flashlight for the long wave images. You will need the same or similar to see the fluorescence.
I do combine shipping, so please request an invoice before paying.
