This is the sixth Wedge-Tailed Eagle design for the Perth Mint by renowned American sculptor and engraver, John M. Mercanti. The 12th Chief Engraver of the US Mint, John Mercanti produced more coin and medal designs than any other in the organization's storied history. This coin's ultra high relief reverse is minted on a concave surface to ensure optimum flow of metal is achieved by the strike of the die. This is a stunning modern ultra-high relief reverse proof coin minted in a small run with even smaller population graded at RPF70 with First Day Issue (FDI) designation.
