For sale is a pair of Rare Vintage Alden 2459 Cigar Shell Cordovan Norwegian Split Toe Blucher Derby Dress Shoes Men's 11 B/D.

For your consideration is the Rare Alden 2459 Norwegian Split Toe Blucher. It's made of the fabled, Alden-exclusive, Cigar Shell Cordovan. Producing this color of Shell is even more difficult due to the needed use of "clear" colorants, as explained by TheShoeMart:

"It is harder to produce Cigar, Whiskey, and Ravello Shell Cordovan because when producing these colors they use what they call a "clear". That means that they use semi-clear colors with some shading in them, so the leather used has to be a more perfect skin."

From Alden Model Project:

"Alden Alden 22220 Cigar Shell Cordovan Norwegian Front Blucher

Additional Model Details:

These shoes feature a glossy and richly patinaed Cigar Shell Cordovan upper, eye-catching Norwegian Split Toe Derby Dress Shoes design, round waxed braided brown laces, leather lining, cushioned leather sockliner, leather insole, leather midsole, leather outsole, stacked leather and rubber dovetail heel (with nails), and Goodyear Welted Construction.

For reference, here are the approximate measurements (taken along the outsole):

Length - 12.75"

Width (at the ball of foot) - 4.375"

I gave theses shoes the total shell cordovan works; cleaned them inside and out with Weimans Leather Wipes, rehydrated the leather insoles and lining with Weimans Leather Conditioner Liquid, stripped them with Saphir Renomat, cleaned the Renomat off and then deep cleaned and conditioned with Lexol Cleaner and Conditioner, further conditioned with Saphir Médaille d'Or Renovateur, mitigated folding/rolling with a deerbone treatment (and additional Renovateur), and polished with neutral Saphir Médaille d'Or Cordovan Cream to maintain the unique color and patina. Lastly, using the most expensive shoe brush money can buy – The Kirby Allison Wellington Yak Hair Shoe Shine Brush – I gave a final buffing.

*Note: Upon closer inspection after listing, there does appear to be a few minor instances of fissure/small surface cracks along the raised shell where the stitching is (see pictures). I suspect this is due to frequent creasing this area is subjected to, as well the increased pressure from the stitching accent here. Note that this is purely cosmetic and will in no way affect the wearing or integrity of these shoes. These shoes are otherwise pristine. That said, I will discount my asking price.

These shoes come from a pet and smoke-free home. Shoe trees are not included.
