Lince was merely a soldier when the Arak attacks started. At first and for a long time after that, they were seldom, brief, weak. A nuisance, at best. Then, things started to get rough. When something finally shifted, his unit and most of the other soldiers, including his own general, were ready to flee on the spot. Morning came, and everyone was gone. Lince and a handful of untrained soldiers and civilians were left to fend for themselves inside a crumbling fortress. What a strange behavior.
