goods, chewing gum, frozen dairy, gelatins, puddings, and soft candy.
If used in skincare, cosmetics or therapeutic products, the resin can be ground and infused in a warm carrier oil in a water-bath. Once it has given itself to the oil, the infusion can be sedimented and filtered to provide a healing aromatic base for creams, salves, lotions, ointments and medicated oils. This oil infusion can also be used in the creation of solid perfumes.

Mastic is a resin obtained from the mastic tree (Pistacia lentiscus). It is also known as tears of Chios, being traditionally produced on the island Chios, and, like other natural resins, is produced in “tears” or droplets.
Mastic is excreted by the resin glands of certain trees and dries into pieces of brittle, translucent resin. When chewed, the resin softens and becomes a bright white and opaque gum. The flavor is bitter at first, but after some chewing, it releases a refreshing flavor similar to pine and cedar.
In its hardened form, mastic can be used, like frankincense or Boswellia resin, to produce incense.
Have a look at the wonderful trees this resin is harvested from.Boswellia frereana is a species of plant native to Somaliland where the locals call it “Dhidin” or “Maydi” (other spellings include: Meydi, Meyti, Maidi, Maieti, and Mayeti) or the king of all frankincense. cypress-like tree Tetraclinis articulata. The tree is native to the
northwest of Africa with a notable presence in the Southern Morocco part
of the Atlas mountains. The resin exudes naturally on the stems of the

exposed to the air. It comes to commerce in the form of small solid
chips, translucent, and having a delicate yellow tinge. Morocco has been
the main place of origin of sandarac. A similar resin is obtained in
southern Australia from some species of the Australian cypress-like
trees Callitris, but the resin has not been systematically collected in Australia.
