A rare early purse and coin case in an unusual combined design.  Dating to around 1790 -  1820s - this is a Georgian piece and a rare design.
The little pouch is made of knitted silk in brown and cream shades with an open work top.  It us on a metal frame.  The knitted silk is adorned with tiny single cut steel beads and there is a cut steel tassel.  At the back there is a tiny leather coin purse attached to the metal frame The pouch is opened by using the hinged metal tag in the centre of the frame - this pulls upwards to give access to the pouch and reveals a red leather cover with open metal work cover.  There is another smaller hinged metal tag which pulls upwards to reveal a tiny red leather coin purse with three compartments.  The compartments are red leather with black leather tops and they fold down as you close the purse.
I have not seen a design like this before - although I have seen many purses and pouches from a similar period.

Measures approx 4 inches deep ( 10cm) and approx 2 3/4 inches wide (7cm) - the leather purse from frame to base is approx 2 inches deep ( 5cm)
