Overdriveland: opening doors to novel overdrive possibilities!

Overdriveland was born to be as lustrous and distinctive as the elusive Dumble amplifier.

Free the Tone’s founder and designer, Yuki Hayashi, spent over 20 years maintaining and repairing Dumble amplifiers and was a proud owner of multiple Dumble amps himself.

Dumble amplifiers are known for their distinctive, thick and rich harmonics and offer exceptional sensitivity to the guitar's signal level.

Furthermore, the drive sound of a Dumble amp responds to a guitarist's playing, as if the amplifier itself possesses intention!

It was this desire to capture this unique feel that sparked the development process of Overdriveland.

In order to imbue the pedal with Dumble-like characteristics, Free the Tone translated various ideas into circuitry.

These hours of experimentation led to a pedal that reacts just like an amplifier!

Overdriveland packs the same harmonically-rich cleans and responsive overdrive as the mythical Dumble Overdrive Special amp.

Normal and Drive channels.

Overdriveland consists of two main sections: a Normal Channel and a Drive circuit.

The Normal Channel features "EQ ON/Glass" and "Rock/Jazz" switches to help set the foundation for your sound.

The "EQ ON/Glass" switch controls the equalization function of the Normal Channel.

When set to "EQ ON," the Tone circuit is activated, allowing you to shape your tone.

"Glass" bypasses the Tone circuit, giving you a glassy tone reminiscent of turning on the Bright switch on a 1960s Fender.

The "Rock/Jazz" switch tailors the frequency response and gain settings for either enhanced gain richness or a smoother character.

The Drive circuit is equipped with a "HI-CUT" filter circuit, making it easy to adjust the high-frequency characteristics.

Additionally, the "Push" control adjusts the signal level sent from the Drive circuit to the Normal Channel.

Power supply switch.

The Free the Tone Overdriveland is equipped with a unique power supply switching feature.

When you select "DC9V", power is supplied to the audio circuit via the 9V DC jack.

When "Int PS” is selected, power is supplied to the audio circuit through an internal boost circuit.

Increasing the voltage to 14.5V DC raises the level before reaching the clipping point, giving a sound that really cuts through.

This lets you produce drastically different sounds, as if entirely separate overdrive pedals were available!
