You are bidding on 15 GREEN HORNET JAPANESE MAPLE SEEDS - Acer palmatum 'Green Hornet' .


This Lace-leaf tends to grow more vigorously than most dissectums. It forms a cascading mushroom shaped mound, much wider than tall. The dark green summer foliage changes to beautiful red in the fall. 

The finely dissected foliage is unusual in that it emerges with a pink/orange tinge, turns to green for summer, then an outstanding red for fall. The fall color on most green dissectums is yellow or orange. 

The petioles of Green Hornet tend to turn reddish to deep purple which give this dissectum an unusual and nice appearance.

Edible parts of Japanese Maple: The sap contains a certain amount of sugar and can either be used as a drink, or can be concentrated into a syrup by boiling off the water. The syrup is used as a sweetener on many foods.  

Other uses of Japanese Maple: 

The leaves are packed around apples, rootcrops etc to help preserve them.
