Studio D'Artisan 14oz Kurozome Black Selvedge Denim Jacket - Type II.

* I have tried this on around the house for a few hours, mostly while sitting at a desk. Unfortunately, the fit doesn’t work for me. As a result, there is some creasing at elbows.

* see last photo for picture of sleeve that shows some creasing at elbow - no fading.

Studio D’Artisan’s Type II Trucker is woven on G3 Toyoda looms - Japan’s oldest operational shuttle looms. All the classic trappings of a good Type II are present and correct: boxier fit, a slightly cropped body, knife-pleated front. This particular version has been garment-dyed natural black at Kyoto Montsuki - a century-old dye house situated in Mubi. The slow, hand layering of natural dyes - derived from betel nuts - creates a blacker-than-black finish that will no doubt age beautifully whilst the base layer of indigo fades away to create a black finish with some unique depth and tonality.
