ITEM DESCRIPTION

1986 United States Liberty Coin three-coin Proof set by the US Mint in original blue velvet presentation case with outter box and slipcover.  Certificate of Authenticity inluded.    The commemorative coins were designed and created to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the creation of the Statue of Liberty.  They symbolize the continuing support of liberty and are the first coins ever issued by the US Government depicting the Statue and Ellis Island.  It was also the first year since 1929 that the US had issued a $5 gold coin.

Coin set includes:

- $5 US Five Dollar Gold Coin, West Point Mint (.24 troy oz. pure gold)
  Designer: Elizabeth Jones
  Obverse: the head of the Statue from below, chosen to symbolize the Statue's gaze toward a future of freedom and opportunity.
  Reverse:  Pays homage to US gold coinage of the 19th century by combining traditional layout and lettering with a contemporary treatment of the customary eagle emblem.

- $1 US Silver Dollar Coin, Philadelphia Mint
  Obverse: The Statue of Liberty Silver Dollar was created from the artist's feeling of majesty derived from the frontal view of the Statue.
  Designer:  John Mercanti
  Reverse: Liberty's torch and the words of Emma Lazarus' poem, "The New Colossus," cited as the inspiration for the reverse.
  Designer:  Matthew Peloso and John Mercanti

- $.50 US Half Dollar Coin, Denver Mint
  Obverse:  Focuses on the growing NY skyline at about 1913, with the Statue's uplifting gesture welcoming an in-bound liner.  The scene is set against the sun rising in the east to convey the start of a different life in the New World.
  Designer:  Edgar Z. Steever IV
  Reverse:  Derived from a photograph of immigrants at Ellis Island, waiting to go to New York.
  Designer:  Sherl J. Wintert famous landmark.

If you would like to arrange for your own shipping we would get the item ready for shipping and wait for your instruction, but we won't be responsible for the package once it leaves our facility.

Shipping

Items will be shipped insured via First Class Mail, USPS Priority Mail, USPS Overnight service or via UPS at seller's discretion. Items shipped via Priority Mail will be received within 2-3 business days of shipment. Shipping upgrades are available for a fee.
