Antique Bowlback mandolin in Neopolitan style made by French maker Jerome Thibouville-Lamy under Grandini Brand, recon 19th century. J.T-L was a small maker crafting since 16th century, he grew his business with other succcessful makers across France to Normandy. In 1857 he corporate with Husson-Buthod a famous brand, they made stringed instrument for other brands too.
Made of great woods like rosewood finger board with dot position markers, rosewood bowl back inlaid with mother of pearl dots, boxwood or tulip wood on the side lines, spruce top, fauxe tortoiseshell scratch plate, decorative sound hole with mother of abalone, bone tunes, nut and bridge all original.
Water marks on the top, but other wise in lovely good condition, restored with true oil to preserve good wood sounds could be tuned and played, low action 2.5mm, strings light, bronze.
