This pre-owned black velvet maxi evening gown is a stunning vintage piece that perfectly captures the essence of 70s style inspired by the 40s. Crafted from high-quality velvet fabric, this long dress is incredibly comfortable to wear and boasts a luxurious feel.
The shawl like wrap attached to the upper bodice of the dress that together with the gold beaded shoulder straps also serves as a dropped off the shoulder sleeve. Can be worn with or without the beaded straps
The dress is in good condition,
There is however an issue with the beaded shoulder straps where possibly a bag strap has rubbed the gold off to reveal the white plastic. This has occurred on both straps, so both need replacing. This gown was used for a 4 week theatre production, nobody noticed.
In the underarm area, the velvet now shows a reddish hue, where the backing colour red under the black is showing. Often after wearing black dye reacts with skin rubbing and/or skin oils, perfumes etc. when the gown is worn, this is not visible as you can see in my photos. Taking a fix it approach, mindful of the reduced price, and the fact that the gown could be worn without the beaded shoulder straps this could be unique vintage piece that will set you apart from the crowd.
