This vintage 80s black sequin taffeta dress is perfect for formal occasions. It has a lounge singer or burlesque performer style, but for anyone wishing to make a grand entrance at their next special occasion, this is perfect.

The label is What’s Up by Carol. Bought this dress in the USA from a private collection.

It’s a lovely design. The bodice is heavily sequinned with glossy black sequins.

No stretch

Fully lined.

Bodice is boned through the bra cups and down either side of the torso. Also at the side seams and the back.

Fastening is with long rear centre zip.

The bodice is shaped into a V and then a horizontal thick band of ruched gathered satin fabric tightly accentuates the hips and the bottom.

From there the skirt has three tiers of fabric, uneven lengths down to ankle length.

The dress is a not only work of art, but a masterpiece of engineering.

The dress is in pre-owned condition and is an original piece from the 1980s. The material is taffeta and the dress is black in colour. This dress is perfect for those who love vintage fashion and want to make a statement at their next formal event.

Condition is practically perfect, a good steam on the skirt and it’s good to go.

Of note. The single row black sequin straps are missing a few sequins. Replacing them is an easy fix, but in my view the dress wears better without the straps and stands up without them. See what you think.
