- Sales of the destroyer [Lightning] ended due to popular demand, but in response to requests for resale, we have decided to sell it with a new package.

- During the Battle of Surabaya, the destroyer ``Lightning'' discovered several hundred crew members of the Royal Navy cruiser ``Exeter'' and destroyer ``Encounter'' that had been sunk by the Japanese Navy, and rescued them all.
- The kit is a model based on illustrations drawn at the time.

- Photo-etched parts include the hastily installed toilet, the tent erected on the foredeck, and the handrails erected around the weapons.

[From [Rescue the enemy soldiers] (published by Soshisha)]
- At around 9:50 a.m. in 1942, the Japanese Navy destroyer [Lightning] attacked the crews of the British heavy cruiser [Exeter] and the British destroyer [Encounter], which had been sunk in the Battle of Surabaya the previous day. I encountered a scene where 400 people were adrift.
- Lieutenant Commander Kudo, the commander of the [Lightning], sent a telephone call to the headquarters of the Third Fleet and rescued 422 British naval officers and men aboard the ship.
- The Japanese Navy refrained from publishing this historical fact in consideration of public sentiment caused by anti-British and American media coverage, and instead of treating the rescued crew members as prisoners of war, they handed them over to a neutral ship after the rescue.
- This fact was revealed by rescued British naval officers after the war.
