Washington is a city in Daviess County, Indiana.  The population was 12,017 at the time of the 2020 census.  The city is the county seat of Daviess County and also the principal city of the Washington, Indiana Micropolitan Statistical Area.  It was platted in 1815, named after Washington Township.  The railroad was built through Washington in 1857.  By 1889, it was a major depot and repair yard for the “Ohio and Mississippi Railroad” which was taken over by “The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad” in 1839. During this time, the railroad employed over 1,000 workers.

Washington High School was established in 1837. wikipedia I could not find any other information on the high school but did find this image, dated c 1925. bingimages  It is also on this post card, published by “Curt Teich” as one of his “C.T. American Art” series. The card is in very good condition with minor wear on one corner, lower left, and a clean, clear image as is the reverse.

The colors on the card may vary due to the scanner settings and screen projections.
Unless otherwise noted, I use Wikipedia, Playle's and Metropostcard for research and try to be as accurate as possible.  Corrections appreciated.
