Johnny Mize, 1964-Date HoF Yellow Plaque Postcard - Autographed - JSA Auth.
On the Player- John Robert Mize (1913-1993) had a versatile career in MLB, contributing as a player, coach, and scout. As an MLB first baseman, he actively played for 15 seasons from 1936 to 1953, with a pause of three seasons due to military service in World War II. Mize, a distinguished ten-time All-Star, showcased his talents with the St. Louis Cardinals, New York Giants, and the New York Yankees. Notably, during his time with the Yankees, the team secured five consecutive World Series victories. Following his retirement as a player in 1953, Mize continued his involvement in the major leagues, taking on roles such as a radio commentator, scout, and coach. His significant contributions led to his induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1981, a recognition bestowed by the Veterans Committee.
On the Issue - The first Baseball Hall of Fame postcards were issued beginning in 1939.  Various versions were produced until 1964.  From 1964 to the present (with an interruption around 1979), Hall of Fame inductees have been honored by the Yellow Plaque Postcards issued by the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Verification – The signature on this card underwent authentication by James Spence using an "Auction House Letter of Authenticity." Please consult the accompanying letter provided in this listing for reference. It is important to note that an auction house letter holds less value compared to an individual letter. The auction house letter's validity is limited to 45 days. Regrettably, the expense of converting this auction letter to an individual assessment amounted to approximately $20 per postcard, an additional expense that did not appear justified.
