The 1981 Springbok Tour to New Zealand and the Demonstrations that followed. The government solution was the formation of 'Red Squads', an elite group of riot police, formed to accompany and protect the visiting Springbok tourists. The tour started with the abandonment of the game in Hamilton against Waikato.
