This is a very stylish Art Deco hand-held brush for sweeping and collecting crumbs from a dining table.

It was produced by Manning, Bowman and Co (1849-1945) in Meriden, Connecticut, a famous American company with more than 70 of its designs in US museums and collections.

The item features as circular roller-brush that sweeps up crumbs into the body of a chrome surround, which has a wooden handle. There are metal 'buttons' on each side of the body that open flaps under the item so as to release the crumbs for disposal after use.

Condition

 All our items have been previously owned and are usually between ten and 210 years old. Inevitably (and often reassuringly) they show authentic signs of age and wear which we try to reflect in our images. In this case, the item is in good condition after 80+ years..no dents or other damage...just some use-related light-scratches that can be seen under close inspection by the camera (see images).

Pricing

Whenever possible our asking prices are based on either our knowledge of the genre or on what similar pieces have been sold for on the UK and international market, rather than what some sellers are asking, which are usually two very different things!

You will normally find that our prices sit somewhere in the middle between auction and professional dealer prices. We don't give items away, but they're listed to sell and we are always willing to consider realistic offers.

Shipping

We have been successfully shipping antiques and collectables across the UK and the wider World for over a decade. We only charge what the Post Office and couriers charge us and subsidise the cost of packing materials to try to make shipping as economical as possible.

International shipping? Since Covid, we have started to use eBay's Global Shipping Programme because it has proved to be competitive and reliable. However, if a package is likely to weigh less than 2kg. we also use the Royal Mail's tracked airmail service.
