I found this item when clearing out an attic. The painting on this wooden jewelry box is Redheaded Girl in Evening Dress by Amedeo Clemente Modigliani 4 inches by 6 inches in size. I believe this painting was put on this wooden jewelry box by someone with some type of clear glue. Not sure if this is a reprint or an actual painting. You can see brush strokes but that could be due to the glue the person used to adhere this painting. There is writing on this painting in the upper right hand corner which looks like it says Modigliani. Not sure who that was put there by the artist or someone else. If I were to guess both the painting and jewelry box are from somewhere near the 1920’s. There is a small bubble/ crease on the bottom of this painting at the bottom of her dress.

This jewerly box is in great shape. It has a velvet lining on the inside of the box. I’m not sure what type of solid wood this jewelry box is.

The outside dimensions of this wooden jewelry box is 7.25 inches long, 6 inches wide, and 3 inches high.

The inside dimensions are almost 6 inches long, 4.25 wide, and 1.75 inches deep.

**PLEASE NOTE ** Just be clear I am not sure exactly when this jewelry box or painting was made. I’m not sure if it’s an actual painting or reprint. The only thing I’m sure of are the dimensions of the jewelry box, that it’s solid wood, and the title and artist of the painting/print.

Here is some additional info I found about the artist:

Amedeo Clemente Modigliani (12 July 1884 - 24 January

1920) was an Italian Jewish painter and sculptorr who worked mainly in France. He is known for portraits and nudes in a modern style characterized by elongation of faces, necks, and figures that were not received well during his lifetime but later found acceptance. Modigliani spent his youth in Italy, where he studied the art of antiquity and the Renaissance. In 1906 he moved to Paris, where he came into contact with such artists as Pablo Picasso. By 1912 Modigliani was exhibiting highly stylized sculptures with Cubists of the Section d'Or group at the Salon d'Automne.
