First edition of this California gold mining diary kept by Sterling B. F. Clark, a pioneer California miner. His daughter, Ella, introduces the Diary which was published by Senator James Phelan (Pioneer Merchant and former Mayor of San Francisco). The original Diary was donated to the Society of California Pioneers.

CONDITION: This Book is in good condition. Book shows normal fairly minor signs of storage & age. Tight binding, clean text. Pages have turned yellow from age. Foxing to paper commensurate with age. The cover is worn, scuffed, torn, chipped, ripped, and has edge wear. This book is an ex-library book. It once belonged to St. Ignatius High school (A Private school located at Turk and Stanyan in San Francisco, California). It has library markings, stamps, and a book spine sticker. There is glue residue from a sticker or a bookplate that used to be affixed to the pastedown endpaper at the front of the book. There are some numbers written on the endpaper at the front of the book. Please see pictures. THE PICTURES ARE TO BE CONSIDERED AS PART OF THE DESCRIPTION.
