Remarks: *Etching after a painting by A. Caracchi, which was formerly in the famous Speck von Sternburg art collection (now no longer in the Sternburg Foundation, Leipzig). - Max Speck von Sternburg commissioned in the first half of the 19th century. century Various engravers repeatedly reproduced his important paintings in copperplate engraving or lithography. Shortly after his training at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts, the engraver Friedrich Loos (1797-1890) produced several paintings for the Speck collection as prints during a stay in Leipzig in 1825, mostly in lithography, but in the present sheet as an etching. See. Nagler (vol. 9, p. 24) No 7 (this sheet not in Nagler). The present image is a proof of the modified font and the inserted coat of arms (cf. the specimen with the inventory number L 49 a; GOS no. gr004088 in the city history. (Museum Leipzig). Very nice print, small blind stamp from the Max Speck-Sternburg collection. - Clean and very well preserved.
