DVD Regions Explained

All Regions / Region 0: Region Free;
Region 1: USA and Canada only;
Region 2: Europe, Japan, South Africa, Middle East, Greenland;
Region 3: South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South East Asia;
Region 4: Australia, New Zealand, Mexico; South America;
Region 5: Eastern Europe, Russia, India, Africa;
Region 6: China.

Region 0 is also known as All Regions or Region Free.
These discs are uncoded and can usually be played in most countries worldwide.

PAL & NTSC Video Formats: There is also a difference between PAL and NTSC video formats. NTSC is the standard video format in North America while PAL is the standard format everywhere else. To play PAL DVDs in an NTSC region your system must be compatible with PAL. To play NTSC DVDs is a PAL region your system must be compatible with NTSC. Region Free DVD players usually convert between systems and if you have a Region Free DVD player then whether DVDs are PAL or NTSC is usually not a problem.
