Dreams to Dream

by Moubella Lisa

"Like everyone else, I have a dream. I want to sing. All the time. To anyone who will listen to what I have to sing..." Have you ever wanted something with all of your heart and soul; and yet it continually slips away? This quandary leaves one with two choices: either give up, or to keep trying. This book will inspire you towards the latter. This is a memoir chronicling a woman's personal and professional challenges in her quest to become a performer. The scene is set in Northwest Ohio in America's Heartland with German immigrant ancestors; and continues over expanses of American culture from the 1950's leading up to 2011. Based on actual events taking place from as far away as the British Crown Colony of Hong Kong and emigrating to Ohio, this is an account of struggle and perseverance against daunting odds; about relationships under remarkable conditions. She was a child of elite parents living in the British Crown Colony of Hong Kong during the Vietnam War era. The daughter of a big band performer, her father instills a desire deep within her to follow in his footsteps until she is abruptly torn from a life of privilege after an exodus to the United States under cloudy circumstances. Her father remains behind in Hong Kong; promising to reclaim his family right after her solo in a small town holiday pageant. But he never hears her song. He vanishes without a trace and his whereabouts remain a complete mystery for the next 30 years. Always searching for her lost father; she uncovers family secrets that challenges her identity. Driven to perform, yet not understanding why; she struggles for answers. Then suddenly, her father resurfaces under extraordinary circumstances. Now, she must reassemble the puzzle pieces of her shattered life to move forward and ultimately claim her destiny as a performer. "Dreams to Dream" was written with a message not only for aspiring and established performers - but also for people of all walks of life: know who you are, accept who you are and always be true to yourself. With this mantra, combined with dedication and hard work...a dream can indeed be made into reality. For anyone who has worked hard to get close to achieving their dream; only to have it yanked away - this book was created for you!
