Description

This book has little demand, but if you are interested in hats, this is cool… because it is a signed presentation copy to friends who lived close by in Massachusetts.  A Pageant of Hats, Ancient and Modern by Ruth Edwards Kilgour; stated first edition, published in New York by Robert McBride, 1958.    7” x 10”, 389 pages, hardbound (red cloth, blue cloth spine).  Good/VG- (corners faded); dust jacket poor (tears and pieces missing). The book comes with promotional papers from publisher and distributor.

The book has more than 150 photographs.  Kilgour traveled 160,000 miles over 22 years and spent $100,000 in doing research.

The inscription reads: July 17, 1960 / Very best wishes for Good Health / and Good Luck to our friends, / Janet and Bill Hill. / Love, / Ruth and Vernon Kilgour / The Farm / West Boylston, Massachusetts . The Hills lived in Holden.

Dust jackets are graded using booksellers’ standards, since eBay has not addressed this specific issue. I try to list all defects that would affect value.

Shipping

For specific info, see item description. General notes: I try to pack very carefully and securely, and ship within 1 business day of receiving payment. I prefer USPS but since UPS is offering a discount to eBayers, I will gladly ship UPS on request.  Insurance is now INCLUDED (you shouldn't have to worry about problems during shipment). Sorry, will not ship this item out of the US.
