Offered for sale is an original Acrylic on Canvas Board by the famous folk
artist E. Melvin Bolstad (1901 – 1971). Signed
lower right. The painting is in Excellent
condition, having been cleaned, conserved and reframed in 2019. The painting is mounted in a 2 ¼” custom ornate
wood frame finished in antique pale gold.
The painting itself measures approximately 15 ¾” x 19 ¾” without the
frame. With the frame, it measures 19 ½”
x 23 3/4”. The
painting depicts a busy street in the small town of Iona, Minnesota, in with
the focal point being the local blacksmith shop. The subject matter is typical Bolstad’s folk
art. The reverse of the painting is now
covered in paper (see pics). The art conservator
took a picture of the writing on the back of the canvas board and affixed the
picture to the back of the painting so that the writing can be viewed without
removing the paper.
Please feel free to
ask any questions before bidding or making an offer. I want every
purchaser to be satisfied with their purchase.

PROVENANCE AND
AUTHENTICITY:
I want to reiterate that I am not an art expert and am
therefore unqualified to authenticate a piece of art or antique without the
assistance from the original artist or a third-party expert. Occasionally, I may have a certificate of
authenticity for a particular piece of art or antique, in which case I will
disclose that fact and include it with the item being purchased. Please be sure to view the photographs and
ask questions before placing bids. The
items listed are being sold according to their condition, appearance, quality
and provenance. Antique items frequently
show some sign of wear or aging. If
there is any significant wear or damage, I will disclose it. If you purchase a work of art or antique and later
determine that its authenticity was misrepresented, I will happily (and
apologetically) accept a return of the item for a full refund. All determinations as to authenticity must be
made within six months from the date of purchase to obtain a refund due to lack
of authenticity.

care in packaging my shipments, they can occasionally be damaged in
shipment. If you need to make a shipping
damage claim, you must save all packing materials, photograph the package (and
artwork if removed from the package) at the time you sign for delivery, and
report the damage to me immediately. At
that point, I will assist with the claim.
