40th Anniversary of the Victory Over Nazi Germany

World War II will be remembered in the history of the Jewish people, both for the genocide, of which they were victims, as well as for the heroism of the Jewish fighting man. About 1.5 million Jewish soldiers fought in allied ranks and partisan units. They ought in Europe and in the Pacific and participated in the occupation of Germany. An equal number fought in the Russian Army. Thousands of Jewish partisans fought shoulder to shoulder with the non-Jewish partisans throughout Europe. Volunteer soldiers from Palestine formed the Jewish Brigade.

Obverse: The monument to Jewish soldiers recently erected at the Jewish Martyrs Memorial Institute of Yad Vashem in Jerusalem, by sculptor Bernie Fink. In the center, the sword - symbol of battle, and a Star of David, - symbol of the Jewish people; on each of its sides - six blocks of stone, representing the six mjllion martyrs. The emblem of the State of Israel and the words: "Glory be to the Jewish Soldiers and Partisans 1939-1945" in Hebrew and English.

Reverse: A representation of a bearing in one hand a torch, and in the other hand a globe, and hewords:"40th Anniversary of the Victory overNazi Germany," in Hebrew and English.

Edge: The emblem of the State of Israel, the words "State of Israel" in Hebrew and English, serial number and metal content for gold and silver medals.

Serialization:  All the medals are numbered. Bronze - 2929 numbered, 280 melted. Silver - 1705 numbered, 4 melted.
