Scarce oval glass bowl from the popular Duncan & Miller #115 "Canterbury" line. This piece could be the "Dawn" color from the bridge years of the 1950s, or from a bit later when Tiffin subsumed Duncan and changed the name to "Twilight." In either case this is most definitely alexandrite glass, with its characteristic color change from lavender in incandescent light to icy blue in fluorescent light. I tried to best display the color with different backgrounds behind it. Most of my photos were taken in normal sunlight and the last photo was taken under a fluorescent indoor bulb to show the blue color (sorry, the only ones in my house are in the basement!).

This piece has gentle curved edges and the flower-shaped base characteristic of the Canterbury line. It measures 9"  wide across the top, 6" deep and 4 3/4" tall.  It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks and just an occasional tiny scratch. It has one tiny manufacturing flaw, a little divot on the outside (see closeup photo).

Please note I have another listing for this same exact shaped bowl but slightly larger. I called this bowl #2 and that one #1 in my titles to distinguish them. Duncan made bowls like this in all different sizes for flower arranging.

If you are a fan of the Tiffin Twilight color, you will definitely want to add this to your collection. Please see my other current and upcoming listings for more rare and other pieces from the outstanding collection of Duncan & Miller/ Tiffin that I purchased from a fine collector's estate auction!
