G3 led the way with the ION back in 2014, making a breakthrough into the pin tech world with a simplistic user friendly binding that was both reliable and burly enough to take on any steep line you threw at it. Now G3 is upping their game once again bringing the ZED into their line.

G3 set out to take all the positive aspects of the ION and cut out all the pieces they did not deem practical in weight. From the toe piece to the heel mech, the ZED is an all new, light weight, all day traveler that will carry you to heights in the backcountry you never thought possible.

Now, to break down all the tasty new features of the ZED. G3 Started off with the toe piece, taking out the widening body parts and making streamline shapes to minimize weight where possible. They also created a simple, minimal boot stopper for guiding your toe bail into place in one simple step. No fussing around trying to fit your toe in the pins. G3 also cut out all the material under the toe springs to shave even more weight.

The heel was a complete overhaul and created a cross between the ION and ION LT. With a single screw adjustment for lateral and vertical release, the 30mm length adjustment also allows for a wider range of boot sole lengths. Just like the ION, the heel turret allows for both clockwise and counter-clockwise rotation when switching to touring. The new slimmed down heel lifts allow for quick pole lifts when climbing and changing slope angles on your approach.

The ZED is compatible with all ION crampons and crampon hardware. And if you want added security, you can add the separate G3 ZED Brake
