This is an absolutely beautiful peg oil lamp. These were converted from candle sticks to hold oil lamps. This solid brass base is ornate and has what looks like a jokers head for a handle. It measures about 4 1/2" across and weighs nearly 2 pounds. The candle holder alone should sell for several hundred dollars. Lamp height is about 14" not counting chimney. Beautiful swirl base and shade. No chips or cracks. It has a Plume and Atwood burner. The fitter on the shade is 2". This is not a great fit to the burner because the prongs on the burner do not hold tight, so may take some tweeking to seat the shade properly or replace the fitter base.
I purchased a partial estate of a well known high end lighting collector. Everything from early oil, to gas, to early electric. The whole history. There are dozens of oil lamps and shades and THOUSANDS of parts, pieces and PRISMS. Apparently, her parents before her were also collectors. I am opening boxes and unwrapping items in newspaper and fruit tissue from the 40's. Tucked away all these years, not to be appreciated. I am not a collector. But I am very happy to return these fine items back into the hands of those that can appreciate them so much more. The craftsmanship of some of these items is amazing. You can't find that now.
I carefully package all items, and never ship lamps and shades together, unless small. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me.
