If you grew up in Southeastern Michigan in the 1960's and 70's you probably remember the iconic television commercials and advertising jingle - "You have an Uncle in the furniture business!  Joshua Doore, Joshua Doore".

Sadly, not anymore!

This listing is for a rare promotional door knocker, distributed by the Joshua Doore Furniture Company of Detroit, Michigan and presented to "The Ole Announcer" Van Patrick, the legendary Detroit radio personality and sportscaster for the Detroit Tigers and Lions.

The solid brass knocker was produced by Baldwin of Reading, Pennsylvania and measures roughly 6 1/4" long x 3 1/8" at the widest point.  It has Mr. Patrick's name neatly engraved on the front.  The knocker comes with the original box and greetings from Joshua Doore, as shown.  The greetings look to be personally typed, since white correct-o-tape was used to cover up a misspelling in the word "business".  The letter "E" was originally an "S" before being corrected.  Doore's signature looks to be felt tip marker, but it didn't bleed through so we are not sure if it's an original.  The misspelling would indicate that it is.

The knocker is in excellent, clean condition and was never installed on a door.  There were no instructions or mounting screws in the box when we acquired it, so they aren't included.  The small folded greeting and envelope are badly creased from being folded in the box.  The box itself is also quite worn but still intact.  It is labeled with Van Patrick's name on one edge and also has the address for WNIC Radio (Dearborn), written on the front, as shown.

This is a great opportunity to own a piece of personal property of a Detroit sports icon, presented by a local business icon! A very rare opportunity indeed!
