Original 1939 Dominican photo featuring the Nika Baseball Club, featuring the legendary Dominican and Negro League catcher Enrique Lantigua. Lantigua was one of the earliest Dominican to play baseball in United States. He played in the 1930’s for the New York Cuban Stars. He is considered as the one of the greatest catcher in Dominican baseball history.

Amazing team photo of a professional Dominican baseball team. During the 1930’s, under the dictatorship of Raphael Trujillo, Dominican Republic was in its golden age of baseball. Trujillo was actually one of the greatest promoters of baseball and attracted with big money many Negro Leagues superstars to play in Dominican Republic. Interestingly, Lantigua is holding a banner written “Viva Trujillo”.

Great addition to any baseball collection!
