Contoured plywood form follows the shape of the back of a leg. Several openings over the length of the splint.


The Eames's first mass-production success, the leg splint was sold to the U.S. Navy during WWII. It corresponded with the development of other plywood elements for Navy planes, and with Ray Eames's iconic plywood sculptures, and was a product of the experimentation in shaping and molding plywood undertaken by the Eameses in collaboration with a handful of assistants that led directly to the LCW and DCW in 1945


Condition: In excellent original condition with only very minor veneer loss and signs of intended use at the inner heel.
